Robbie Ethridge is professor of anthropology with specialties in
ethnohistory, cultural anthropology, and environmental
anthropology.  Her work focuses on the deep history of the Indians of
the American South, especially their colonial experiences and
incorporation into the global capitalist market system and how these
forces worked to transform their pre-contact social, political,
ecological, and cultural lives.  She is currently working on a
project that details the rise and fall of the pre-contact ancient
chiefdoms of the South from 900 AD to 1730 AD.  She is the author of
two monographs and several journal articles and book chapters as well
as co-editor of three edited volumes.  She also serves as
co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Native South.
