Sara Douglass
“As a result of Sara Douglass’ ENVS independent study last spring, the City of Oxford adopted a new Complete Streets Policy last night (February 3, 2015),” said Anne McCauley, assistant director of the University of Mississippi Office of Sustainability. “Sara’s project contributed significantly to the policy improvements. What a great outcome.”
Douglass (BA biology ’14) was an ENVS minor who is currently a Post Baccalaureate Fellow for the Office of Sustainability.
“Sara’s senior project was one of the primary drivers to get this policy improved,” said Kate Kellum, associate director of institutional research and assessment and assistant professor of psychology. “Thank you, Sara!”

Sara moved to Oxford in 2010 from Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend the University of Mississippi. She graduated from the university in May of 2014 with a B.A. in biology and a minor in environmental studies. Sara joined the Office of Sustainability in the fall of 2012 as a PowerSave Campus intern, a program dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and achieving measurable energy savings on campus. As an undergraduate, she served on the leadership council for Students for a Green Campus and the UM Green Fund Committee. During her time as the Post Baccalaureate fellow, Sara will work to foster a more bicycle-friendly campus, develop student engagement initiatives, and further existing sustainability efforts.
